Durban: a Diamond in the Rough

Growing up in Durban, a small beach town on the east coast of South Africa, I’ve become accustomed to the slower pace of life. The people are chilled and easy-going, and life is in every sense, laid back. Board shorts and bikinis are a staple – and shoes only needed if necessary. Being a creative, I’ve always longed for more. I felt claustrophobic in my small city and searched for a faster paced life. I wanted to be where art and theatre was the epicentre, museums aplenty, travel accessible, and where I would be intellectually stimulated and challenged, daily. And so, London became my life.
